The last week, I was basically without internet.

How scary is that?!?! Most people today…would be terrified of such things…but I’m about to do it again so I thought I should post now, while I’m still connected!

The last week or so I was house sitting at one of my favorite places in the world. I spent some time relaxing, reading and doing a little hiking and running.

I’m back home now, in my own bed, which I have missed OH so much. Let me tell you, I love that bed so much. I’m already excited to go to bed tonight!!!

Today I did a mini-tri! Haha. I did 2/3 of a sprint tri at the gym. I did 3 miles on the treadmill with the last mile at a 9:16 pace which is AWESOME for me. Then I swam a 400 in the pool. It was a pretty solid workout. Maybe once I’m done with my traveling and such I can do my own little sprint tri at the gym. Haha.

So this weekend I will be volunteering at Floydfest!!!! I am SO excited. Floydfest is a music/art/food festival in Floyd, VA. My FAVORITE band of all-time, Old Crow Medicine Show, is playing Saturday night and I cannot WAIT!!!!

Since I’m volunteering I get to go to the campsite early, get a good location, and unpack all my gear before the masses arrive. I need to be packing my gear up right now but I think it’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Today I’ve been hard at work on another project…of which I am OH so pleased to present to you………

For those of you not familiar with Etsy, it’s an online selling site for independent artists, crafters, knitters, spinners, antique junkies, etc!

I launched my Etsy store today at so please come visit my lovely, lovely store!! It’s just jewelry right now, but eventually there will be some fibery goodness.

Speaking of fibery goodness, I got to spin on a wheel yesterday for the first time!!!!! Let me tell you, spinning wheels are a LOT harder than they look to operate. You aren’t just sitting there passively….you’re doing WORK. You have to pay attention. SO fun.

****Back on track****

So. Etsy. I’m so excited about my store. I’m not trying to make it in to a full time business, but just a hobby. Just to amuse myself. If you do click over, please let me know what you think! Any and all suggestions are welcome, either about the shop logo, or my jewelry in general!

Here are some pictures of the pieces in the store, including my absolute favorite piece!

A simple beaded bracelet.

My "Knit One, Pearl Two" necklace!!! I constructed the "ball of yarn and needles" myself. I'm super proud.

And I also want this project…and the other two for the other class…to magically be done.

Sorry I’ve been a bad blogger. I promise to come back in full swing by Wednesday. It’s the final week of summer classes so everything is due and everything is crazy. I also took my certification exam this morning for my masters so that was another straw on the stack.

Good news is I did manage to get some good workouts in this week.

I worked out with Trainer Monday and Wednesday. I felt kinda crappy Friday so we skipped that. Tuesday and Thursday I ran with Shiloh.

I don’t think I wrote about Monday in here… I did 3 miles with Trainer. 3 intense miles. Fast pace too. I was pretty darn proud of myself, thank you very much.

Wednesday I did a pool workout with Trainer. It was pretty awesome. I did a lot better than last time. We also went farther but not much. Just a little past a half mile. Then I did some aqua jogging. It was a pretty great workout and I’m still proud of myself.

Other than that I didn’t workout Friday. I wasn’t feeling great and had the exam this morning so I did NOT want to make myself sick because this exam cost a LOT and I didn’t have time to reschedule.

I’m glad I rested.

And here we are. Still working on projects….and now I have to go back to that.

Please, Lord, let this be over soon!!

Do A Little Dance…

Ok well that was Friday.

I did quite a lot of dancing at The Embers concert. AMAZING time with the best friend. My parents were there, his parents, lots of high school people’s parents *yes, I hang out with old people*, my former boss…so it was fun.

Danced all night.

So Saturday…there was some PAIN in the left hip flexor/IT band…not sure which it was but it hurt. Not terrible but I thought (especially after the 4-Mile Friday) a rest day was in order.

Plus it’s better to fool around with my “schedule” now than mid-way through.

Yes, that’s right. We are now embarking on the Half-Marathon Training!!!

Not sure which half though. Something in November. My friend decided not to do the Richmond Half so I may still do it…or may not….there’s a local half too around then…so….we shall see.

But so anyway, we moved the “start” of the half training from Saturday to Sunday.

So Sunday I ran 2 miles!!!!

At 6pm when it was 92 degrees out. Insanity.

I almost died. I won’t lie, there was walking. And 10 minute miles. And some anger. But I DID IT!!!!

Then….today was cross training day with Trainer. And per my (idiotic) request we did a pool workout.

Just…wow. I used to be on the swim team but….that was many years ago…..and I have basically forgotten how to breathe while swimming. Thankfully no lifeguard was necessary but I was SLOOOOOOW. But it was still awesome. I liked doing the kickboard work best. (Gee, no face in the water…wonder why I liked it) My legs are pretty strong so those was also my fastest laps.

We did some different drills and I ended up swimming about a half mile…which is kinda sad but…for my first serious swim since…2001ish….hey, not bad.

And I feel AWESOME today, by the way.

No, I’m still totally not sleeping through the night. But I feel good. (And I just got your note, Erika. Great timing. I’ll work on that. *says to self I AM a BAMF….I AM*) I actually feel great today. Better than I have in MONTHS. I don’t know what is causing this but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps up. šŸ™‚

So, to recap…4 miles and 3 hours of dancing Friday, 2 miler to begin the half training Sunday, and a rockin pool workout today! Good week so far!!!
