I Want To Ride My Bicycle

I do NOT want to ride my bicycle, I do not want to ride my bike.

Ow.

Pain.

Trainer hurt me.

We did a spin class type thing today. And let me tell you…I sure can run for 40 minutes…but BIKE?? Apparently not.

Now I have never been a good biker…at all. But I did not know I could be bad on a level this low. About 10 minutes in I wanted to cry. I no longer felt my hamstrings or glutes. At all.

And Trainer is just perking away on the bike beside me going “And stand and pedal…and sit and pedal….and stand and pedal….and sit and pedal” And I’m thinking “And stand and try to run away….and sit and try not to whimper…”

Nah, it wasn’t THAT bad but MAN I hurt. I have never sweat that much during an indoor activity in my LIFE. And see, this is why I have her…because I HAVE been on a stationary bike before for what I THOUGHT was exercise. Apparently my version of exercise was seriously wrong. Thank you, Trainer, for showing me the error of my ways.

So after the biking…and after I regained some feeling in my legs…we did abs and arms. Medicine ball work today. And some other lesser forms of torture. 🙂

Ow.

Other than that I made salmon for dinner (YUM) so I’m pleased. Friday is “fish day” because a local company drives to the shore and picks up fresh fish once a week then trucks it back up here so we inlanders can get REAL fish. It’s awesome.

Tomorrow…I shall attempt a long run. I shall. Provided my legs allow movement.

So right now I’m going to go “carb load”.

Also known as I’m going to find ice cream and pig out.

Trainer Day

Whew.

It was Trainer Day today!!!

I warmed up by doing a mile on the eliptical. Then Trainer arrived. And then it began…

We ran 20 minutes. Then we walked for 3. Aaaand then we ran 20 more.

No lie.

Total was about 3.5 to 4 miles for the run…plus the mile on the eliptical…so I’m calling it 4 to be safe…but it may be 5. 🙂 Hehe. I’m so proud.

We talked a little during the run. I told her about wanting to do the Richmond Half and she said she might be doing the full so that’s awesome. She said there’s a local half in October but I’d rather wait for Richmond but we’ll see. We picked up the pace a little after the 3 minute rest but soon had to back it down because I was slightly winded. I did manage to find my voice again when we ran through the Dairy on campus. I love cows so…(hence the name on here…) that got me talking. I told her which breeds were which and just random cow facts. I also told her what the different buildings were at the dairy. We finished up by running a loop around the vet school and then to the horticulture gardens. I’d never been through those but they are really nice. I think I have a new favorite place to sneak off and study while on campus!!!

Here, let’s see if we can map it…

Ok anyone want to tell me how to make mapmyrun work? Anyone?

So after the run Trainer had me do crunches, medicine ball twists, supermans, calf raises, some shin work, and side bends. 3 circuits of that.

I’m quite proud of my effort. I’m just excited to see the results. And I have the patience of a goldfish.

Actually I’m just impressed that I ran for 40 MINUTES!!!!

Tomorrow I’m going to try for 3 miles in the park, then Friday I see Trainer again.

In other news, apparently a lot of people at my church want a personal trainer. Actually I’m sure a lot of people everywhere want one…but where I live it’s not that easy to get one…so if I do decide to get certified (after I work out a LOT more and take that class and stuff…) I’d have clients!

I’d love to be a trainer. I am just so addicted to fitness and working out and stuff… And I’m just a touch enthusiastic…incase you haven’t noticed…. 🙂

Well, I’m going to go get some things done around my house and then get to bed early so I can run in the AM!

Miles To Go Before I Sleep

I did a quick one mile warm up this morning. I tried to really push my pace despite the muggy 75 degree temps outside. I did my mile in 8:10 which is pretty good for me. If I ever get my mile time down to 7:00 I’ll be thrilled.

Right now consistantly being around 8:00 makes me happy though. It’s WAY better than anything I ever did in high school though. Speaking of high school, I really need to go run on a track somtime…and see what happens on a flat surface.

So after my run I did about 30-40 min of abs and upper body. Pretty good for today.

Good news: I DID take pictures of the park that I run in…so next time I run there I shall post them. Maybe tomorrow…

In other news…I miss sleeping. I haven’t gotten a full nights sleep in almost…what…2 months? I wake up every night at 3 or 5. It used to be 2am and 4am. Either way…I’m SO not happy. I’ve tried EVERYTHING.

…Relaxing and watching TV and winding down for at least an hour before bed

…Eating dried cherries (melatonin) before bed

…Not eating sugar/caffiene before bed

…A new freaking bed

And has any of it made ANY difference????

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not falling asleep that is the issue, I do that fine. It’s waking up in the middle of the night that’s a problem. Then it takes a half hour to hour to get BACK to sleep.

That’s just downright not peaceful and a crappy quality of sleep.

I miss sleep.

Well, I didn’t make it to my race on Saturday. I had a huge blister on my heel and it hurt even to walk…plus by the time I stepped out the door to go to the race at 8:30 it was 95 degrees and 100% humidity. The race didn’t start until 9:30 and there was just no WAY I was going to max myself out. I have a race this coming Saturday that is WAY more important and all my friends will be there so I figured I’d be better off not pushing myself in that kind of setting.

So I did a lot of walking (In non-running/non-blister hurting shoes) Saturday and then Sunday was a rest day.

Today I did lower body and a little ab work. It’s supposed to cool down some this week so that will be nice. Saturday it got up to 101 here…and if no one has noticed, it’s not even SUMMER yet. Insane.

Other fun news for the day is that I’m going to see a nutritionist on Friday!!!! I’m also thinking about getting a personal trainer. I want to see what my body fat percentage is…because last time I had it tested it was high…even though I’m short and small…Also I just need…help. I need someone to get on me and give me a plan.

Also, I’m quitting my Chiropractor. I’m going to go see another one that my friend goes to. Mine just keeps trying to sell me crap and he’s just…not for me. My veiws and beliefs and his don’t really line up…and my friends that go to other chiropractors says this guy sounds like he’s not that great. Basically I dread going and I never feel much different when I leave…apparently most of my friends adore their chiropractor and feel awesome when they get adjusted.

We’ll see.

Rain, Rain, You Can Stay

Well it’s raining out.

But that doesn’t bother me, because I already got my 2 miles in this morning!

I was supposed to run with a friend but she overslept. I almost decided to wait until tonight to run but I decided to check the forecast. At 6:45 they said there would be a 30% chance of rain by this afternoon so I debated it for a bit but decided to go out anyway at 7.

Good call on my part. I told my friend we could run tonight but it looks like that 30% chance went up to 100%. If it clears up by 6pm I told her I’m still game but I don’t know that she is. We’ll see what the weather does.

Backing up a bit, I did yoga on Sunday, and did some serious lower body last night. I am SORE. But it’s the good sore so that’s alright with me.

So as far as the rest of the week goes, tomorrow is run group, then Thursday is going to be tough to fit a workout in but I may try to do an early one before the heat hits….the good news is that I’m off all day Thursday with the exception of one appointment at 9am. The bad news is it’s supposed to be 90+ so running mid-day is OUT.

Friday I’m going to do some light miles and then Saturday I’m doing a 5K!!! First one in…oh…almost 2 months. Thank you stomach. *glare*

Well, I should get my homework done.
