Hi there!!

This blog is about the running side of my life…mostly. I can’t help it if other bits and pieces slip in. 🙂

As far as my running history goes, I’ve been running for fun for about 4 years now. In 2007 I decided I’d try to run 5 5K’s. I’d been consistantly running 3 miles or so for awhile but had never raced. I did my first 5K in March of 07. It was a trail run and I was an addict.

I went on to run a few more 5K’s, then joined Team In Training and by September of 07 I’d gone from 5K dreams to half marathon realities. I ran the Virginia Beach Rock n Roll Half in 2:25:32. I loved every step of it.

Unfortuenatly in late September of 07 I got sick and was unable to return to running right away. I ended up being sick and in and out of the hospital for about 4 months. Finally the doctors determined that I have an intestinal condition but are thankfully hesitant to diagnose me with Crohn’s disease, even though that’s what it seems like.

The good news is that now I seem to be a lot better!! In 2008 I set and reached my goal of doing 8 5K’s. For 2009 I’ve up’d the stakes. In 2009 I ran the Shamrock Half, my first triathlon, and around nine total 5K races.

Other than that, I am a member of the Star City Striders and occasionally write for their newsletter, Footsteps. I’m also a Team In Training Alumni as you can see from my “First Half Marathon” page. GO TEAM!!!!!

  4. I can’t believe that I missed the “almost maybe Crohn’s” bit. This half-marathon is for you too, girl!

  5. congrats on all your success with running and feeling better, I am so proud of you. keep it up!

  6. Hi there! I read the bit about you and had to tell you that my husband was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when he was 23 (he’s now 45). It gets easier to manage once you figure out what your triggers are.

I applaud you for keeping up with the running. I don’t think my husband would ever be able to (nor does he have the desire) because of the severity of his disease.

Anyhoo…this is a shout-out from one Ravelry gal to another!

  7. I saw your comment about a dog friendly run to Josh (Mountain Junkies). Are you aware of the Dirty Dog 15K in West Virginia? Check it out.
