Starting Something

Well it’s been a busy week so far.

Sunday was a rest day. I just didn’t feel up to par after running Saturday.

Monday I did some serious lifting with my new workout DVD. I have the DVD from Bravo’s tv show Workout so that was fun. It is a really great DVD and all you need is hand weights. I couldn’t make it all the way through so that’s something to work towards.

Yesterday I also made a list of goal races. A few that made the list are the Disney Marathon, the OBX marathon, and the Charlotte Thunder Road marathon. I’m thinking about doing OBX as soon as next year. I love that area and that race is a must-do for me.

Also over the weekend I worked on my training plan. I’m starting to get a decent base built up so it’s about time to start training for something. I’m thinking the Richmond Half and then the Shamrock Full in Virginia Beach.

The races are 18 weeks apart so that would give me time to have a super-long marathon training…and allow a little wiggle room incase my stomach issues arise.

The plan supposedly will take effect the second weekend in July. This gives me almost a month to keep working on my base mileage. The half training plan I’m going to use is a 18 week plan as well so it’s going to be slow and steady. It’s the plan I used for my first race so there’s no reason it won’t work now. I got through that race injury free so I’m not going to fix what ain’t broken, so to speak. šŸ™‚

It’s actually REALLY mild out today so I’m going to get my run in this afternoon after work. Tomorrow is run club so that works out well. However it looks like I’ll be working out with my personal trainer Thursday morning for the first time so…I’m probably going to be dead by Friday. Don’t expect an update. I’ll need to recover.

Haha, I hope it’s not that bad. šŸ™‚

Well, I’m going to wrap things up here and work and head home to grab my running gear. I’ll probably do the 2 mile loop around the park and hopefully post the pictures of the park for you all!

  1. I haven’t read what you posted but I’d have to tell you that you inspired me to look up for an upcoming 5k race from where I currently reside. I know I’m a bit nervous about it since I finish my 5k’s for like 40 minutes so .. since I stop for brisk walk after 1km (hehe) Im still building speed and endurance but the fulfillment of having yourself be on a race is something else šŸ™‚

I’ve yet to know breathing technique that’ll work for me and a strategy on a 5k. How did you do it? šŸ˜‰

  2. I am currently here in Manila, Philippines. I’ll be joining a MIZUNO RUN sometime by the end of the month. šŸ™‚

I have forgotten what it’s like to be on a fun run. I have a friend who’s joining in with me but he’s as fast as a bullet he can finish it off less than 25 minutes’ and I’m still stuck on a 40 minutes mark but of course I’m working on having it on less than its time.

I can only finish 1km then rest then another 1km in an interval until the end of the 5km. :s

Breathing, well they say, and as I have read there is the art of how you’d breath when your running that helps you keep up longer during your jog/runs and even when you’re walking.

I run out of breath like It seems like Im about to faint (well at least during my last run) I’m having problems now with my sleep too! Ahk!

Thanks a bundle woman. Yeah, i’d love to read on how you made it on your race. šŸ™‚

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog, Courtney. It sounds like you’ve got an awesome training plan for your first marathon! I also really liked your 5K race report. Keep up the great job.

  4. Courtney, your plan of a half marathon and then a marathon 18 weeks later is great. That way, you can put a couple of 20-22 milers in prior.

Continued success in your training! – Wayne

  5. DAMN!!! That time is insane. Keep working!
