Dear Self. COMMIT TO THIS BLOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok. Administrative stuff out of the way…I’m going to now work on blogging on Sunday or Monday and then again on Thursday or Friday. We are going to commit. End of discussion.
Another note, shoutout to someone that I can tell is going to be one of my favorite running buddies!!!! Hi Carly!!!
She’s super-awesome. I met her at the River Race 5K I did a few weeks ago. She has a really cool dog that is going to make friends with Uri. I can tell Uri is very excited about having a friend to play with. Plus Carly is a much faster runner than I am…but apparently I’m a better distance runner than she is…so we’re going to help each other out!!! Yay for team work!
So. Let’s play catch up. Last time I announced my MCM sign up…I’m still a touch in shock but that’s fine. My triathlon is…um…THIS Sunday…so I’m a bit concerned about that…but…I’ll get through it. I hope.
I don’t know if I mentioned it, but I GOT A JOB!!!! REAL JOB!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!! I signed my letter of intent last Friday and mailed it off!!! WHOO!!! I start August 10th.
Here’s a picture from Easter and my 25th birthday. Fun times.
I got a new 8G ipod which was awesome. Aaaaand the boyfriend got me tickets to a UT football game!!!!!!!!! My FAVORITE team and my dream come true!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! Seriously I can’t put in to words how excited I am. However…the football tickets…to the season opener….which are like AMAZING tickets ON THE FREAKING FIELD….yeah. Same day as the Jimmy Buffett concert I have tickets for.
Who’s fault is that? MINE…because SuperAmazingBoyfriend checked the dates…but my brain shut off and I told him I wasn’t busy that day. DUH!!!!!!!!
Oh well. I’m selling the JB tickets and heading to the football game. MY FIRST COLLEGE GAME!!!!!! AT MY DREAM SCHOOL!!!!!
Now on to knitting news!!!! I’m working on Christmas presents…socks so far.
I actually have a lot more done than that…but haven’t taken pictures. Also, the baby blanket is coming along nicely. Aaand…I want to learn to spin. NO MORE NEW HOBBIES!!! FOCUS, WOMAN!!! FOCUS!!!!!!!!
Well, that’s really all I have for now. I’m going to work on improving the blogging in both quantity and quality.
Last few shoutouts….
CONGRATS CHRISSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO COME HELP PLAN!!!!!!!!!!
Sis….Cat sweaters. Cat. Sweaters. (And like 33 days????? SWEEEEEEET)
Lesley. You’re amazing. You’re strong. You’ve been through a lot and you deserve to be happy. I love you…because you’re just like me. And we’ll survive. We’ll be happy. We’ll be ok. And we’ll make it through this together. <3
You Must’ve Fallen

Out of the sky like rain you must have fallen, baby
Bringing the water and the summer when it’s hot for days
You brought the alien smile, aquarian sage
You must have heard me calling~Ben Taylor Band
I slipped off the updating bandwagon yet again. Totally grad school’s fault. Wheeew.
So. Things you’ve missed…
After the Shamrock….I began knitting on a baby blanket…did I mention that? Yeeah. I think I did. My friend is having a baby. So anyway….I’ve also started another project that will be a Christmas present…I will not be disclosing any more real details because I don’t want people knowing what they are getting!!! If you’re on Ravelry you can catch the details there.
This weekend mom and I did a 5K. It was ABSURDLY windy. Just awful. I was really tired too, maybe still from the half, but I hope not.
OH. OH!!! OH!!!!!!!!! Um….I did something………
Something….um…that might not have been the best idea ever.
I registered for a full.
My first full.
THAT full.
Yeeeeeeeeah. So. Kind worried. Kinda thinking I may have lost it.
BUT anyway. Race last weekend. Dad got a LOT of great pictures because the course lapped the finish a few times.
That’s me and mom at the start.
Mom running past dad on the first lap.
Me finishing!!!!!!!! 29ish minutes.
Not my best time…but not too terrible. Mom got 1st in her age group.
YAY MOM!!!!!!! I also met a really cool girl with a really cool dog.
Hopefully she and I are going to set up a play date for Uri and her dog.
So then Sunday Tracy and I went hiking. We just did a quick 4 mile hike outside of town up to the Cascade Falls. I shall leave you with some pictures from the hike.
Something stung Trace. HA.
I is cute!!!
Hurt So Good

I did 8 today!!!!!!!!!!! WHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 miles!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friday I did 4 with my trainer. Good times. I was kinda sluggish though, but today was much improved.
However…I don’t hurt yet. And I’m scared. And I’m not tired. And that scares me more. Normally….8 is NOT a happy distance for me but today…I kinda rocked it. I did 4 then paused for a moment and grabbed some shot blocks and some water. I shared a shot block with the dog. Hehe. I mean he was running probably 9…so he needed it. I kept him off the leash and on the shock collar so he ran up and down the path, and didn’t have to stay with me the whole time. He seems to like that better. He’s very well trained so…it works. Plus at 9 on a Sunday morning there aren’t a whole lot of other people in the park.
Well, not much else to report, other than the strange lack of soreness and tiredness. We’ll see how tomorrow feels.
Ain’t No Place I’d Rather Be

Than running, that is.
I had the choice of going to a pot luck with the girls in my class and socializing…or staying home alone and running.
And what do I do?
I run.
I think…I can say for certain that I am a runner at this point. I choose running over most activities. I gravitate towards other runners. I drag my family and friends in to running with me. I get overly excited when I get socks as gifts. I get even more excited when race entry forms come in the mail. And if I get a new running book or my RW magazine comes…oh…don’t even try to get it away from me.
I’m a runner, aren’t I?
Hehe.
I’m a runner.
I’M A RUNNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah. I am.
And it’s only taken me a 14 5K’s and a half marathon to get me to realize it.
Actually…it was the realization I’d rather run than eat and talk.
And speaking of how running related things trumps eating…I put dinner in the microwave and sat down to wait the 5 minutes on it to heat…and got wrapped up in RW.com and the awesomly new VT Tri forum….and forgot about dinner…and left it so long it got cold.
I was so excited I forgot to eat. That’s bad.
So anyway.
Tomorrow is trainer day and I’m excited. I haven’t gotten to do a whole lot of running and working out this week because of school. Tuesday was a rest day because of the 6 miler on Monday. Then Wednesday I did yoga and ab work with my friend who’s training for the half with me!!!!
Then today I did 2 miles with Shiloh. It was getting dark so I did a shorter run, but it felt wonderful.
Someone asked who Shiloh was so I’ll explain. Lol. Shiloh is a dog, and he lives with another dog, Tessa. I take both of them running a few times a week for their owner who is older and not able to take them out much since they are dobermans and she’s…well…older. Haha. So I get paid to run with Shiloh and Tessa. So. That’s Shiloh, I run with him and get paid for it.
Fun times.
I’m so excited. Tomorrow I’m supposed to do 4 miles and will probably do that with my trainer.
Well, I’ve got to go work on lesson plans now. You guys behave!!!!
It’s A Great Day To Be Alive

Super awesome wonderful day!!!!!!!!!!!!
For starters, this is what I woke up to…
Awesomeness. SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
However I was also uber sad because my precious Ipod had been missing for 2 whole days!!!!!!!!! The last time I distinctly remember seeing it was Wednesday when I ran…so after tearing my car apart 3 times, my basket it normally goes in…I even looked under the couch in case the cat had seen it and decided it was a fun toy….I pulled all the cushions out of the couch to see if somehow it had slipped out of my purse….I looked under my desk…in pockets of pants and jackets…….
EVERYWHERE. I looked EVERYWHERE. I was depressed for the entire day yesterday because A) It was icy and I couldn’t run…and B) I only slept 4 hours and there was no way I could get 6 miles in on 4 hours of sleep….
So today…with the snow…I decided I was going running regardless…but I had to look one more time. And I did. Nothing. So I laid down for a second and watched the boyfriend play wii while I tried to remember where I last saw my ipod.
And where did I last have it? When I was buying yarn for a certain penguin hat…
And WHERE did I find my ipod?!?!?! In my knitting basket in the bag with the penguin hat yarn!!!!!!!!!!! YAY IPOD!!!!!!!!!!
Snow AND the ipod…perfect.
There was just enough snow to coat everything in white, but not so much that I couldn’t get out and drive to the park.
There’s the start of the trail where I started my 6 miles.
Here’s one of my favorite parts of the trail, right as it enters the woods. It always makes me smile.
The trail winds a mile through the woods, then up and hill and over and down in to the other park. There’s a 2 mile loop around that park so I did that twice, then back up and over the hill for a total of 6 miles. I had fun doing the loop twice. Normally it’s boring but with the snow I could try to run in my own footprints or someone else’s. I really enjoyed it.
I took Uri with me. He LOVED the snow. He ran and ran and ran. Normally he sniffs everything but he just had a blast running today.
Here’s what my view looked like for the majority of the run.
Hehe. Fun times.
So we did our 6 miles…and I wore my trail shoes because I figured…snow…little ice as well from yesterday…might need extra traction. It worked and I didn’t slide once, BUT…I did discover that the trail shoes, although new…kind of pull apart on the side…near the ball of my foot…and there’s a little crack created between the side of the shoe and the sole…and the edge of my foot gets shoved down in there when I run…and after 4 or 5 miles….NOT fun.
And after 6? Big blisters and a red/purple blood blister…niiiiice.
So. Gonna wear comfy shoes the rest of the day and ice my calves because they are on FIRE.
Overall…I’m having one of the best days of my break ever. Even though school starts tomorrow….I’m having an AWESOME week so far.
YAY 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They Paved Paradise

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see ‘em
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The boyfriend and I did a short little hike near the Appalachian Trail. It was about 2 or 2.5 miles. We did the start to the trail of Dragon’s Tooth. It was pretty fun. We didn’t have time or daylight to go all the way up because we had to meet my family for dinner.
Here are some pictures from the hike!
Uri found something fun!!
Dad and the pup.
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.
Uri standing on the AT!!!
Me and my hunnie!!
And Sperl, you know you want that puppy!!!!!
So after our hike I came home and took Uri out for a quick 1 mile run around the block. I mean…I hiked and stuff but it’s not running. So I had to get a super-fast run in before getting ready for dinner and such with the fam.
Oh, and in case I haven’t mentioned this…Uri is pronounced “Or-ee” and is short for Uiron de Boyd de Vichelles or…however it’s spelled. He’s from France. But bottom line, the dog’s name is said “Or-ee” Like Oreo but without the last O.
Anyway. I did my first run of 09, put up my Runners World calendar, and am going to go log it in my RW log!!!!! WOOT!!!!! That’s starting 2009 off right!!!
Later guys!!!!!!!
Oh, almost forgot!!! As soon as I get my Christmas checks to the bank I’m signing up for the Shamrock Half Marathon!!!!!!! WHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shoes.

Mmmm shoes!!!!!!
Who else out there loves their running shoes?!?!?
And who looooves getting new shoes?!?!?!
That’s what I thought. So please, share in my excitement of my TWO, count em TWO, new pairs of running shoes!!!!!!!!!!!
But first, let us say a fond farewell to my old shoes that will now be retired to easy workouts or walking to class.
My beautiful Asics. Nimbus. I really thought I would stick with them…but I went to my favorite local running store, Runabout Sports and ended up with a lovely new pair of Mizuno’s!!!!
Mmmm aren’t they lovely?!?!?!?
So what does every runner do with their new running shoes?!?!? LACE THEM UP AND HIT THE PAVEMENT!!!! I took Uri out for a nice 3 mile run from my house to Beth’s. It was wonderful.
Uri was a pain today but I was still super excited about my rockin new shoes!!!
And yes, I did say TWO new pairs of shoes. That’s right. I got another pair. A trail pair!!! After the 4 mile trail run…I decided to get some trail shoes because I DO love trail running. I was going to order a pair online…but 40% off…it woulda been the same to order them online. So without further ado…my new Adidas trail shoes!!!!
Mmm, aren’t they pretty?!?!?!
So now I’m going to have to go for a trail run soon!!! Also, still need to get some YaxTrax. But anyway, in addition to the shoes I got a hat and two of my FAVORITE pairs of socks. Asics Hera’s. I got a discount because I’m a member of a local running group and the Tri-Club sooo….that plus the sale they were having…it was awesome. OH, and when you buy shoes at Runabout you get a discount on all other clothing items as well!!! So…I made out like a bandit today.
Mmmm new gear. Nothing spells fun like new gear!!!
SO…while in the store I noticed race shirts near the register…lots and lots of race shirts and numbers. *gasp* What’s that?!!? The store is having a 5K this weekend?!?!?!? And who do you think is now registered for TWO races this weekend??? One Saturday and one Sunday?!!? THIS GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And who couldn’t be more excited??!?! THIS GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mom is running one on Saturday with me and I’ll be doing the store’s 5K Sunday!!!! SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And in non-running news, I would like to publically announce my serious lack of attention to my surroundings. APPARENTLY the boyfriend left a rockin present in my apartment IN PLAIN VIEW in FRONT of the TV three days ago…and I didn’t notice. He had to show it to me yesterday. I’m pathetic.
So. Here’s my random awesome for no reason Christmas present.
Isn’t that awesome?!?!?!? I was soooo excited.
Hehe.
So. In conclusion…shoes rock, races rock, boyfriends rock. And I’m a BAMF.
If You Wanna Go And Take A Ride With Me

Heeeey, must be the money….
Yeah don’t ask why. That’s what I’m listening to right now though. Hmm…is there a way to link my pandora stations to wordpress? Might have to look in to that.
Come on boo, gimme kiss.
Lol, ok let’s stop being random and get down to bidness.
Ok. I can’t stop. Deal with it.
So. Last night. Tri Team meeting. AWESOME. My trainer was there and I got to meet a lot of the team. I also got the team schedule for the spring so I can look over the events and see what I want to do. I’m so ambitious all of the time…because I’ve never done a tri…and now there are at LEAST 2 that I want to do next spring. They are sprints…so…I mean that’s not bad, right???
I have a bad habit of diving in head first….to everything.
So anyway. We’ll see what my trainer says I can do. I’m going to let her call the shots since she usually has a better sense of my physical capabilities than I do.
But on to today’s run. I did 4 miles in the park. Not too exciting. I did the 2 mile loop around the park twice with Uri of course. And once again, the dog was not the LEAST bit tired at the end of our run. Granted I felt badass and probably could have done another mile…but my calf was cramping on and off and Saturday is LR day so I’m trying to pace myself.
I am feeling so awesome. I’m such a BAMF.
Right E??? Ha. I’m really getting back in to my groove and lovin every minute of it!!!
Ok, off to do work now…if I can stop daydreaming about tri’s long enough to focus!!!!
All I Can Do Is Tri
December 2, 2008 at 6:57 pm | In running | 2 CommentsTags: Dogs, Run, running, Stretching, Triathlon
First things first.
I did a nice 3 mile run today after class.
There’s the start of the trail I usually run.
I took Uri with me, of course. It was in the lower 30’s and flurring a little so I did dress warm…apparently too warm. I had on under armour leggings and a shirt, pants over top, and a t-shirt, sweatshirt, headband, and gloves.
The gloves are really what killed me, ha ha. Apparently i’m not a glove runner. My hands sweat and I have to pull them off around halfway. The sweatshirt was a little much as well today. Apparently 30ish degrees is still warm if you’re running!!!
The 3 miles were pretty good aside from the overheating. Uri was acting up a little bit today though.
Here’s Uri once we got home.
I have a little pain in my left quad still and now some in my right hip flexor. I’ve been stretching so hopefully it will calm down.
In other news…I’m thinking about going to the Triathlon Team’s meeting tonight on campus…My trainer is a member and I met some other members today…and I really want to do it…
We shall see. I might give it a tri.
Wait

Wait, wait for the dawn my dear
Wait till the sun gets here
And you will wait too long he will be gone
Wait, wait till the sun shines through
Wait till the sky is blue.
~Get Set Go
So today was going to be a rest day, but I decided to do some yoga with my cousin since I’m house sitting with her. We did about an hour of yoga. It felt really good and I need to work on my flexability so I really should do more yoga.
Tomorrow I’m going to be pretty busy all day with observations during the day then class at night. I’m hoping to get a run in sometime tomorrow afternoon with Uri unless it’s too rainy/snowy/cold out. Although…I am kind of looking forward to a GOOD snow…one you can run in without fearing ice the entire time. I want it to snow…but I want to be able to make it to the park. Haha. Beggars can’t be choosers I guess.
But I will run tomorrow, and that’s what matters. I will get up tomorrow, and I will run. And I’m going to keep it up, and keep up the blog, and the log.
No more waiting.
I’m ready to run.
